I went to school to be an elementary school teacher. I found that it was not a fit for me. My passion is helping those who need help. I want to be a Guidance Counselor (grade, middle or high school- ideally College level), and know what is needed to get there, BUT- my GPA when I rec'd my BA in Liberal Studies was under 2.89 and it was 6 years ago. I am not working in the field, or even a related field.
My questions are: (1) Is 6 years too long to go back to school?
(2) What would the possibiliy be of being accepted to a Grad program given my BA for teaching (no credential) and low GPA @ graduation?
(3) Should I go back Grad school for a Master's in Business Administration Management, which would help me in my present career, which is not my passion?

Never too late to go back to Grad school. There are a lot of people in their forties, fifties and sixties in Grad School.

As far as GPA that is going to depend on the Specific school you are applying to. Like UCLA might say yes and USC and say no as examples.

Your best bet is to talk to the specific school's Guidance Counselor face to face!

Now here is another way a lot of people go for their Master's especially if they are working full time. They take one class at a time instead of being formally enrolled full time.

1) It's never too late to go back to school.
2) The key to getting into a grad program is finding the one that fits you best. Write out a criteria for what you think the best grad school for you should be. This should include things like financial aid, location, ability to get grant money for research and so on. There are many great schools that the average person has never heard about. When you find the right place your low GPA will just become a small bump rather than a giant mountain.
3) If it's not your passion don't do it. Grad school is difficult and demanding. If you heart is not into it, you will never finish. Find something you love to do.
