Education & Reference - 16 June 2007

Okay, i dropped out of high school when i had my son.

I have 33 credits right now, and i want to continue on to get my high school diploma, because i only need 11 more, plus 1 regents.

I'm 19 and i will be 20 next month, What should i do?

Should i go and get my diploma, or get my G.E.D.?

They have a Y.A.B.C program that i could go to but there only giving like 3 credits per semester. I doubt i could enroll back into day High school. So what should i do?

Oh, and if you know any programs in the Bronx that i could go to so i can get my diploma, please let me know in advance.

Growing up I was never allowed to be sick. I was always told to suck it up and deal with it. This ment no matter how sick I was I still had to go to school. I remember being in the bathroom throwing up and being asked how long I was going to be because I was going to be late for school. One time I threw up in the car, was brought back home to change and taken back to school.

I was always told that they better not get a call from the school becuase they would not pick me up. One time the teacher sent be to the nurse because I looked so bad. Even through I was running a 104 fever my mom told the the school that there was no way for them to pick me up which was not true. I then got punished when I got home for trying to get out of school.

Even on none school days I was expected to get up, get dressed and treat it like it was a normal day. There are many more storys of of this. As you can guess I had perfect attendance and got all of the awards. Anyones parents like this?

i have to write an essay in english. the question is:

what are harper lee and john grisham in 'a time to kill' and 'to kill a mockingbird' suggesting about the need to seek truth and live with integrity

my ideas so far are to write 1 paragraph about people of integrity in the book (tkamb) and then the 2nd paragraph about people of integrity in a time to kill. does anyone have suggestions on what i could write about for the 3rd paragraph? ooooh and do you think that this thesis is too bland/boring/doesn't get to the point? Thesis = Harper Lee and John Grisham are suggesting that people must have the courage to live and act with intergrity and seek and practice the truth.

I wanna do many thangs, Teaching is one of them I think. Anywho, The college Im planning on attending is online. It looks like an awesome program. However, they offer the degree Organizational Management with a concentration in...whatever field you want. Mine is English. And they offer a specific teaching program. I was thinking Psychology, since it has some science requirements for pre-med + it's not to difficult to obtain a high GPA, plus you can get good at breaking the news to people that they are sick because you know the human psych. What other majors are good for someone who wants to become a Radiologist (a doctor not tech), Is psych a good idea?, I don't want to do physics, biology, or chemistry, something not so science/math intensive.

So what's a good bachelors major for a radiologist?

My kids finish school on June 21. They go to a public school (which is good aside from the rant you are about to read)

For the last 3 weeks, they have done practically nothing educational. They have taken field trips to water parks, watched movies in class, played games, had a picnic....etc. There has been no projects, homework........nothing.

There were 3 final exams (2 hours) in this 3 week period that would qualify as education.

What has happened is that the teachers have completed the state mandaded educational requirements, and then stop. The kids have to go to school to meet the 180 day requirement even though nothing is being taught.

One of two things should happen.

1) Continue to teach until school lets out

or

2) Let the kids go on vacation

Lets stop this farce at the end of the year just to meet the 180 day requirement.

For the record I live in NJ. We supposedly have one of the best educational systems.

So, How much time is wasted in your system?
