Can someone plz help me to maybe cut out some unnecesarry things...and summarize a few sentences...because i cant think of any at the moment...thanks!

Rachel’s Rise in Position

As morning dawned upon the dry, cracked ground, the sky unfolded to reveal the sun’s radiant beams, emitting their brilliant flames across the vast horizon. The golden sky awoke, spreading a faint smile across her face. Prickly branches shot forth their naked spokes into the misty air, as if they raised up their cries for rain. There I stood beside the window of my bedroom, as I gazed at the small bush my dad had planted for me. He’d always told me to take care of it, but he would never tell me again. A woman who had too much drink had crashed into my dad’s car, killing him instantly. A tear of sorrow trickled down my cheek, but I brushed it away.

“Mom,” my younger sister’s petulant voice echoed from the other room, “where are you, Mom?”

“I’m here,” I heard her answer.

i've read people say put undeclared for your major so u have a better chance of getting in. if u get accepted into the school can u then declare a major?

I have been absent from my private high school since February 25th. This has been because I have severe unexplained body pain and fatigue. My doctors are still clueless as to what is wrong. I might have to repeat 9th grade since I have missed so much school. Will this affect my chances of being accepted to a college like Georgetown or Brown university?

Is jurists a word? I don't see it listed online on the scrabble webpage. I do see jursist listed in Websters but a plural is not mentioned, and I do see the word listed online in different places.
I am arguing with my Dad, because basically I lost because of this word.

Hello guys! I'm a 4th year student and were studying bout conversion of units, and I don't get it!!!
heres one example on the book, I don't know how'd they got the answer:

75m² x 10²cm x 10²cm
  = 75x10 4(4 is an exponent) cm²
1m 1m
=7.5 x 10 5(5 is an exponent)cm²

now tell me.. how did that happen, do i need to divide that, or this or multiply that.... ? what do i need to do to get that answer, how did that answer happened. Best answer gets 10 points!!

Are boys discriminated against in Elementary Schools?

By this I mean are elementary schools, curricula and teaching methods more geared towards a female style of learning than a male style of learning (and there is a difference). Is the fact that the vast majority of teachers for this age group are female have a negative impact on young boys learning patterns?

If not, how would you explain that at least in my country and I suspect many others, females do much better in Elementary school but males catch up and outperform later.

In my country females get more Bachelor's degrees but fewer PhD's. Does this say something about learning patterns? (ie - earning a BA means learning someone else's ideas but earning a PhD requires independent thought)

By the way, I think that the situation in High School Math education is the opposite (though improving). Of course my goal is a balanced education for all.

5K^(-1/2) C^(1/2)-L=0
5K^(1/2) C^(-1/2)+-4L=0
K+4C=16

This is part of a bigger problem on lagrangean functions - I need to know how I can solve for C, K and L. My main problem is that I do not know how to deal with the powers. I multiply the first equation by 4 then want to take the second to eliminate L but how do I deal with the powers?

What would the rules be regarding something like:

[C^(-2/3) B^(2/3)] / [C^(1/3) B^(-1/3)]

Powers confuse me! - I have an exam in this s*** tomorrow :(
