My University does not have any student representation on campus. They also have no organizations or clubs...ie newspapers or student led groups. I am planning on starting a student government and would like to know what others would expect from such an organization. I have spoken to others at the school but would like comments from those who are attending or have attended college also.

Thanks for your time.

Would "their" be singular or plural?
"Their" would refer to two or more individuals.
For example: "their paintings/portraits..." Would the correct answer be "their painting/portrait," if each person makes his/her own painting?
Another instance: "...a look of surprise on their faces..." Is that correct as is, or should it be "a look of surprise on their face?"

Thanks to those who help!
