I'm terrified of trees when there's a high wind blowing the leaves and it's dark. In one job I did I was often given addresses to call on of a Sunday night when you can find everyone in. I got an assignment in South London on an estate which I later discovered had been built over the top of an old graveyard. There was a line of trees bordering the estate and I had to go to some maisonettes set next to them.
One couple told me they'd had to move from one end to the other as they had so much trouble with haunting. Working at the other end of the town, I was telling someone laughingly about it and this enormous man said he'd had to move away from that estate as he'd seen ghosts when he was going to work on night shift and couldn't cope. He'd cracked when one came and stood
in front of his car in the road and wouldn't move.
When I had to go back to the estate the following week to collect questionnaires, the sound of the wind rushing through the leaves was like wailing. On a dark, rainy Sunday night, no one about but me, couldn't get out of there fast enough. Shivering just thinking about it. Put me off trees for life.

I am scared s***less of heights but here's a supplementary question: fears are called phobias and phobias are supposed to be totally irrational terrors, according to the psychiatrists but what exactly is irrational about falling from a high place? It's certainly quite likely to kill you!
I've had to go up tower blocks that have no guard rails and have ended up virtually crawling down the stairs because I cannot go near the edge - that's not irrational to me, that's sheer, stark blooming terror!

I am afraid of skunks, and people at night.. I refuse to leave my house by myself once it is dark. even if its 6pm I just can't muster up the courage to walk out the door on my own. And Im always afraid that something will happen to a loved one.
