My University does not have any student representation on campus. They also have no organizations or clubs...ie newspapers or student led groups. I am planning on starting a student government and would like to know what others would expect from such an organization. I have spoken to others at the school but would like comments from those who are attending or have attended college also.

Thanks for your time.

An SGA should work between the students and the administration. They should be able to start student groups, appropriate funding and petition the administration for rule changes. Somethings are as simple as bringing a specific food vendor on campus (like taco bell) or as challenging as finding money for upperclassmen scholarship or protesting the firing of a professor.
