A man has a striking clock which strikes out the hours and strikes once on the half hour. On arriving home he hears one strike as he enters the house. Half hour later it strikes once. Half hour later it strikes once and half hour after that it strikes once again. What time did he get in?

He got in at 12 and heard the last strike as he was entering in. The next strike was 12:30 since it was the half hour
The next strike was 1 since it strikes out the hour

I think he must have gotten home at 12:00 and only heard the last strike of the 12th hour as he was entering the door. Half an hour later it would have struck once for 12:30, half an hour later it would have struck once for 1:00, and half an hour after that it would have struck once for 1:30.

He came in at 12:30 (one chime), It chimed at 1:00am (second chime), and again at 1:30am (third chime). Right before he went to bed (at 1:35, for example) he set his clock back for daylight savings, making it 12:35am. The clock then chimed once at 1:00am (fourth chime) and then again at 1:30 (a fifth single chime that wasn;t even mentioned in the question.)
