Not only do I think it should be mandatory, I think it should be done at a younger age.

At my school, we have it in 9th grade, and for the second semester of the year. I think it should be in 6th or 7th. By 9th grade, most people have left puberty and all of the pregnant chicks at my school are either freshmen or sophomores. Lots of kids are having sex in middle school, unfortunately.

I think when you allow parents to sign a document that says they don't want their child taught sex ed, then that just creates a slew of problems. The parent wants to teach the child their own screwed up, conservative views about sex ("sex is bad and you can't have it until you're married" etc.). What usually happens when you tell someone that they can't do something, they want to go ahead and do it anyway.

If the parents weren't allowed to have a waiver, they would probably all cry fascism. Boo hoo, our child is going to be taught facts and science about sex and now I can't get to brain wash them!!!!

I know there is no curriculum for the class, so a teacher can pretty much do whatever they want during the class. Some people read actual French novels. Did you do that, and which ones did you read?

What I mean is this. It seems that (at least in the USA) many of the classes were being taught by GTAs rather than professors. Although they tried (the GTAs) they were ill-equipped and uninformed. I feel as if I got cheated when it came to my college education. When I did get a professor they simply didn’t seem to care.

I have to take a Geometry course, but since I couldn't make it to my summer school courses (family problems, car problems, a whole slew of crap), I was unable to make up the one course I needed to graduate.

I don't think that's true. I think if wishes were horses, then beggars would eat more horse meat or there would be more used horse dealers. You?

The answer may not be the best in scope of the universe it's still the best answer offered and I give it high marks. What do you do ?
