Wow, there have been so many in my life and I'm grateful to all of them! The one I most am beholdin' to was my fifth grade teacher. Sister Mary Thomas in Our Lady of Loretto School. She taught me to appreciate books, to finally understand math, also principles of fairness and getting along in the world.I had not thought of her in a long time, thanks for the question!

My best teacher (and my favorite) was Mr. Smith. I had him for American History in high school.

We didn't have a text book. Mr. Smith gave us an assignment and we had to do the research. My friends and I spent a lot of time in the library looking up words and events in the many books there in order to be prepared for class.

We also worked together in groups: a Continental Congress, we did the impeachment trial of Andrew Johnson, and we tried to pass bills in Congress in favor of our "group." I represented the immigrants.

I learned a lot from Mr. Smith. I went on to become a history teacher because of him.

I worked hard that year and I learned a lot- how to do research, how to present a paper in class, and how to debate!

My seventh and eighth grade social studies teacher, Miss Holden. She had traveled all over the world and had pictures and slides of the countries where she visited. Whenever we were studying a continent she would bring in the slides and pictures and show us what the countries looked like and explained the different sites of interest to us.

Julie Sarge. She Taught 4th-6th and Ottawa Montessori in Grand Rapids Michigan. She was so dedicated to teaching to all of her students' needs. ADD didn't exist to her. If you had a problem learning, it was because you were being taught the wrong way.

Craig W.

He was a published author, an inspiration to those of us trying to be published someday, and always willing to help.

Wish all college professors could be so great.
