I live near a police station with some type of big communications antenna, also Moffet Field and Lockheed located not too far from me,.. could this have something to do with it? I already ruled out the timer feature. When I tape a piece of tin foil over the Infrared sensor it will remain off, but once it is removed it will switch itself on again usually within an hour or two. I considered the possibility of my neighbors TV remote control triggering it but I don't think it would be strong enough to penetrate walls from across the street. Or maybe Comcast triggers it with their sniffing devices? I myself don't even use a remote on this VCR unit. Hmmm

I am considering a Pioneer PDP-6010FD Television but it is only rated at 720p but has the capability to accept a 1080p input. Will the display reflect true 1080p quality?

I am placing a 42 Panasonic Plasma for Hi-def hookup above a fireplace which will be semi-sunk into the wall. If I have Cox cable with HDTV programming and a cable box which I cannot place near the plasma (I want only the TV up on fireplace, no other equipment.. it must be with the rest of my audio equipment located about 25 feet away near the wall). this is a new house install, walls are open..

The question(s) I have are:
1. What should I run up to the Plasma from the cable box to get HD on the screen?
2. while on the topic, since the cable box will not be in line of site and it uses a IR remote.. what options to I have to use like a logitech 300 RF remove to control my cable box?

If the US government elected to have one day of the week where no television is broadcasted, what would you do instead. Do you think this is a good idea?

Some of the longer cables I have seen are close to $200 each! I am all about quality and "getting what you pay for". My concern is that with cables there may not actually be any advantage in spending the extra cash.

Ok, my sister lives in Michigan and just got her own place. She can't afford cable and at the moment can't use her TV. I told her she needs an antenna to at least get the local channels and she said she is pretty sure that all of Michigan's TV is digital and she thinks an antenna won't help, that she'll need some kind of converter. Does anyone know if that is true? Will an antenna work or does she have to get this converter? Thanks in advance!

I have an HD antenna for my HD TV, (no Satellite TV at all) but all my other tvs are analog. An HD receiver is way more expensive than a Satellite HD receiver.

I have been checking out deals for Dish Network or Direct TV but just don't like the prices. To get what you want you have to get a package with lots of things you don't want. I would rather get a new updated antenna. We live in the country and cannot get cable. But then my husband heard that they were going to stop those signals and force people into getting sattelite systems? Any insight into this? I am too cheap for 40-50 bucks a month for tv.

I just bought a new Plasma HDTV (Panasonic 42" Viera with 1080p HDTV), but I didn't consider well its concections. My Home laptop has only VGA output and the TV has s-video, video component and HDMI imputs. NO VGA input. So I have the option to get one of these video converters:

http://www.ramelectronics.net/html/9A60.html
http://www.grandtec.com/xppro.htm
http://www.grandtec.com/product%20sites/pc%20to%20tv%20converters/hiwire.htm

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/searchtools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2430506&body=REVIEWS#productresources

OR to return the TV and buy one (LG PLASMA) with VGA input that cost $400 more.

So the question should be: If I return TV or buy one of these converters (Which one?)? also will like to know if the signal from these converters equals or is the same from what the "new" HDTV could give me?

I'm about to pull my hair out... I've called Polariod, they don't have it... I've called Best Buy, Circuit City, Radio Shack, Walmart... nothing! No one has a AC 100-240v 50/60hz power supply for my plasma! I moved twice and my previous neighbor stole my power cable and several other things from me. She obviously won't return my phone calls. Also I need it specifically for my plasma... it has three protruding stems on the plug, and the other end is just like any other plug that plugs into an electrical outlet. HELP!!!!

I know £350 isn't a lot to spend, but i'm on a tight budget and want to get a HD Ready TV somewhere between 26" and 32", (which I know is pushing it abit!) I've been looking on www.ebuyer.com and www.misco.co.uk who both have plenty in that price bracket. What's the most importantt thing to look for - is it the lowest respone time, resolution etc? Any tips or recommendations for UK websites would be appreciated.

I just moved to an apartment with cable. I brought with me my tv from my old house that was connected to a cable box. At the new place when I hooked up the cable and did the channel search, I ended up with only 13 channels. The landlord brought in her (older) tv to see if it was the cable itself and she had no problem getting all 80 channels. So now we are stumped, is there some sort of reset that my tv can try and pick up all the channels available thru the cable? It tries to find channels 14-79 but the come up as static. Any help would be appreciated!
