As far as picture quality Vizio has been deemed as descent to good. I know plenty of gamers that have got them as inexpensive HDTVs and are plenty happy. Although, I have not yet heard of any issues with malfunctioning it is probably safe to assume that since the company is new it could pose problems trying to repair it if the need occurs. In a few years this could change though. Vizio has been at the top of sales for a while now and hopefully they will use that to make a better TV set.
Aside from that, Vizio is also carried by Circuit City, so everyone saying it's a Wal-Mart TV is not exactly correct. Sony is sold at Wal-Mart too. Does that make it a Wal-Mart TV? No. I would go back and get an extended service plan on top of the Costco return policy just to be safe. Aside from that my opinion is that it is not a horrible TV like some are saying.

Vizio is a sparkling kind call and has located itself as a cost chief. Little is widespread approximately their reliability, so in exchange on your good deal you're taking a probability on the long-term. They initially made their call with good deal plasma contraptions and have now moved into LCDs to boot. Functionally they're very reliable for the money. The CNET evaluate referenced provides some theory approximately the place the compromises lie.

I just got a Vizio TV last weekend. It was a 42" 1080p LCD from Costco. I think it's a great TV. When you have a high definintion signal it looks amazing. It is just ok in standard defintion. It's a little pixelated if you sit too close (my tv is in a really small room).
In a dark room the black is a little grey looking.
But if you are looking for a good price on a TV for HD then I would suggest this one.

Popular Science reviewed this model before it hit the stores.. The biggest flaw was that blues and greens in the Liquid Crystal display blurred together so much that it was hard to distinquish the line of separation. Try This: get a magnifiying glass and tune in a show where the blues and greens come together; even through the glass you cannot see the lies without switching to airwaves analog, and who would waste time doing that? Better to rent a blu ray.

Great picture quality, alot of problems!
Pieces of Junk. Same with all walmart units.
They support their warranty for a year, then after that they dont care.
Most have problems under the warranty, and then breaks shortly after. And when you get it replaced, the warranty continues and not restarted.
Usually they give you a factoy refurbished crap for replacement.
Its walmart, just saying that should deterr you.
Get a Sony and you wont have any problems.

i have never owned the make (visio appears to be a confined to the US only) but i do trawl consumer electronics sites and not many people have good things to say about visio-apparently while working they (for the money) are fine-but when things go wrong costco's customer service leaves a lot to be desired.
