I'd probably keep working around my house, I don't really watch it anyway.
Wait...does this mean if this happens that I can't turn on the TV to play my Gamecube?
Nevertheless, I think it's a good idea. Get people weaned off TV.

I understand what you are trying to pose and accomplish with your question, but I would be extremely pissed if the government ever did anything along those lines. The US was founded on freedom. That's what I expect and that's what I want. If others can't seem to drag themselves away from the boob tube then that's their own weakness.
Now if there was a day that the governement said we reccomend that everyone take a break from television on this day every month, or something along those lines, I think that would be more acceptable.

I think it's a great idea, but I doubt it would really do any good for the people that really need to benefit from something like this. People that get zero excercise aren't suddenly going to start excercising just because they can't watch TV. If we're talking about theoreticals like the government mandating things that are good for us, why not a mandatory excercise time? That would probably benefit us more. But unfortunately or fortunately, our government will never get that bold.

Yeah its a good idea. People (including myself) waste alot of time watching tv. I took a class in college where we had to go without TV for a month. I didn't realize how much I watched it until I had to do without it. It was a real eye opener. I'm sure the government would never do that- no TV would mean less money for the TV stations, etc. but it is a good idea. I'm not sure what I'd do with the extra time but everyone would eventually find something to do.

I think my elementary school had something like that where for a day or week you don't watch TV, play video games, etc. If a student follows those rules, he or she gets ice cream or something like that.
I think that that's a great idea! It'll force people to get off their fat lazy *** (that's me) and do something useful.
We have a day for people to stop smoking (my mom never even tries to stop on that day!), so we should have a No Electronics Day (no TV, computer, CD player, iPod, etc). If that would happen, I might actually get homework done (which I should be doing right now. lol)!

I don't think this is a good idea, because the government shouldn't be playing "Big Brother" to that degree. They are not our parents, they shouldn't be allowed to dictate our lives.
As for what I'd do instead? Listen to my kid whine about missing Spongebob. What else?

I always used to think that we should have one day of the week without electricity or be allowed to use cars. Like just one day, maybe even of the month. Maybe the communties could organise events just to be all together with natural resources. It would do our planet alot of good if that became worldwide. It would do good to the people that spend all day watching television and sitting and computers as well.

no offense, but i think that would be stupid. How about a day without internet or radio? I see no point, sorry.
I'd probably watch tv anyway just to prove a point to the government.

Watch DVD rentals at all the video stores suddenly skyrocket. It's not up to government to decide for me how much TV I should watch.
