I don't use an aerial anymore but when I did this is what I used ...

A second persond and a pair of walkie talkies. I would sit in front of the tv set with it turned on. I would have the other person situated by the antenna. I would have that person move the antenna and watch the signal on the tv set. When the signal looked the best I would radio the other person to stop rotating the antenna and to fix it in that position.

Generally in the direction where the TV"s tranmitting antennas are located.

look at your neighbours aerials and copy them - ps try to pick the ones who get a good picture.

you need a tv ariel pointer set up device there about £2.99 from comet if you like me spend all your money on cider & cant afford such a device, then just look witch way everyone elses is pointing.

I used a compass - this is only any use to you if you know where your transmitter is located.
