1366 x 768 is neither 720p or 1080i. It is 768p so I guess you can consider it something in between. Confusing? Yes it is. 1366 x 768 is the native resolution of the display on your set. No matter what signal you feed it, it will end up displaying it in 1366 x 768. When it receives a 720p signal it slightly upconverts it to 768p. When it receives a 1080i signal it downconverts it to 768p.

I have a Sony XBR HDTV with an owner's manual that claims 1366x768 resolution while supporting 1080i. I did a lot of reading about HDTV resolution before and after I bought the TV, and found that TVs like mine can receive a 1080i signal, but they de-interlace the signal (convert it to a progressive signal) and scale it down so it can be displayed as a 720p image. Scaling the resolution down is not a lossy process (so the picture is still accurate), but you don't have the resolution of a 1080i(or p) picture.
