My tv has a channel and volume dial instead of buttons. The channel dial is missing and I was wondering if a universal remote would still work? Also the tv model is an LXI.

I live in England and have seen that several things that I want on dvd are region 1 only. I've seen multi region dvd players for only about £30 but will I need a different telly? And how can I be sure of getting the right stuff? I'd really apreciate some help, thanks.

I got a cheap FTA setup consisting of a small dish and a pansat 2500 clone receiver. I get decent signal strength but the quality says zero and can never find any transponders or channels. Also when It says 93 degrees west does that mean i have to tilt the dish up? (its mounted facing west)

I just turned it on when I got home and the sound doesn't work. Thought it was the cable box, I tried playing a video but it remains he same. It's an RCA, its got a few years on it...

Anyone know a quick trick, I will never fall asleep if I don't watch tv.

Basically, I want to use the TV for the following:

1) Play XBox 360 in High def - 30% of the time.
2) Watch DVDs - 20% of the time
3) Watch prime time tv - 10% of the time
4) Watch ESPN Sports - 20% of the time
5) Use it as a computer monitor 20% - Would DVI to HDMI cables work for this?

I am really stumped cause all my friends and salespeople have recommended 50 different TVs.

Thanks!

I have a samsung 3251 HDTV (16:9). I watched HD program. Why some of them narrowed the picture by two black bars on both left and right sides? Even watch the same HD channel, sometime it is widescreen (16:9), some does not---generated two black bars?
