The dial tuner is called a "turret tuner", and some did actually use remotes, which controlled a motor or solenoid which bumped the dial up or down a channel at a time. Their remotes, however, were/are totally incompatible with any available today, so even if yours did have one, you're out of luck here. Sorry.

Old TVs like that can't use a remote because they don't have the electronics required for remotes to work. I know that one of the first Sony TV's to use a remote had 8-channel memory and dials inside to tune each channel memory to a certain channel, and dial TV's don't have a remote sensor to use a remote.
P.S. Universal remotes don't work with old TV's with so-called "Hypersonic" remotes.

Er, no. It has to have an infrared port on it - it looks like a little window - somewhere on the front of the TV. But you're getting a lot more exercise than all the remote control people out there!

You should put that antique Tv on Ebay along with your 8 track player and your cellular phone that has a backpack for an antenna. Also, I hear your air-popper popcorn maker and Max Headroom VHS tapes are worth a lot.

You bet, sure you can. Just put it on channel 3, hook up a VCR and use the VCRs remote to change channels. and when you are done watching it clap it off with the "Clapper".
