I just turned it on when I got home and the sound doesn't work. Thought it was the cable box, I tried playing a video but it remains he same. It's an RCA, its got a few years on it...

Anyone know a quick trick, I will never fall asleep if I don't watch tv.

Catch the sound gnome in your TV & force it to buy you a new TV. It will offer you a generic brand but hold out for a Sony (ie.Tell him you'll make him watch hours of midget wrestling. They hate that.)

If the TV is very old, it may need to go in for repair.
If it is not so old, it may have a digital memory for its settings, such as language settings. Unplug it and leave it unplugged long enough for it to forget every setting, so that when you plug it back in, it has returned to the factory settings.
Do you have a remote control? Someone may have pressed the MUTE button by mistake when they wanted to turn it off, and only sound went away. It may have gone into standby mode and looked like it was off. unplugging it or pressing MUTE should get the sound back.
;-D Good luck!

we have an RCA and that's happened to us before.. we just unplugged it from the wall and then plugged it back in and it worked. Can't hurt to try.

Try tapping it on the back gently if it is a loose connection it may come on. Or if it has headphone out try & see if that works. If it has audio out try connecting it to an amplifier.
