I recently purchased a 32" Sony LCD TV and am disappointed with the picture quality, perhaps because I am using the old and cheap SCART cables I had from my previous TV. Particularly bad is some sport, often fast moving such as football or rugby which appears very pixellated.

I am hoping it's just the cables and wondered therefore what's the best type of connection to use, and whether I can expect the picture quality to be significantly improved.

I have the standard bumph under the telly (Sky+, DVD, Video, PS2) but no cinema sound or stereo system. Any help most appreciated.

Thanks

I have been looking around and I wanted a cheap 32" lcd tv. I founf the Konka KDL32AT23U and the Sceptre X32GV-Komodo. The Konka is $500 and the Sceptre is $550. The problem is that they are both no-name companies and I was wondering which one is better. I was going to use it for analog satelite, dvd player, a computer monitor, and some day for a Playstation 3.

The link for the Konka is http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2329640&CatId=386

The link for the Sceptre is http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2705968&CatId=0

Tigerdirect also has a Viewsonic lcd tv for $600.

With large screen TVs is there any way to display "Closed Captions" below the picture instead of on top of the picture? So captions are completely off of the picture and not blocking any portion of the picture.

because right now we have some tv's that can output up to 1080HD and the most we can get right now even with channels that are HD is 720 HD.

My question is can i hire a guy low price to come in to put cable into the wall so they can hook up cable tv to my apartment??? Also, is this a hard job or big job? I dont understand buildings that are 50 years old can hook up to cable but when I bought my new apartment they cable guy said the men that built my apartment forgot to put cable in wall. Does this make sense?? Any suggestions????

I bought a Samsung LCD HDTV yesterday. I also bought a HDMI cable that would connect my MediaCom cable box to my TV.

I connected the two together using both the HDMI cable and an existing Coax cable. When I choose the source of HDMI, it is better picture clarity & sound, HOWEVER the picture is shrunk down to approximate 4:3.

When I swithc to the Coax, it fills the entire screen.

Both sources say that they are displaying in 16:9 mode. Am I doing something wrong or will my digital cable only show in the 4:3 mode?

Hi,

I've been considering taking the plunge into the LCD or plasma TV market, but don't have cable, satellite, etc. and have basically gone with broadcast network stations in my area. In addition, the reception I currently have on my 32" CRT is fairly poor anyway, even with a set of rabbit ears for antenna.

I don't anticipate adding cable, satellite, etc. to the budget anytime soon. Because of the questionable reception already received, is it really worth spending the dough to upgrade the monitor?

I don't know what I'm doing so I need some help. I'm going to be playing the x box 360 on it but I heard the component cables are fine so I wouldn't need anything for that. As of now I will not be getting HD channels from my cable company but I still need the HDMI cable to make my digital cable channels look better right? I was going to buy the cable from this site as they have some good prices so can someone tell me directly what to buy from there or if they have another site I should go to direct me to that and tell me exactly what to buy. Thanks so much!
