I`ve been advised to steer clear of Samsung and look at Phillips, the ambi light ones are outa my budget as I do not want to spend any more than 1K GBP, look forward to any advice.... be apreciated!

Personally, I'd keep clear of Philips, too. Do some side-by-side comparisons, and you'll see the picture on a Philips is visibly inferior to most other brands.

Check out the Toshiba 37WLT-66, part of their Regza range. It's picked up a couple of awards this year, mainly for its excellent picture quality. It's available from Comet, Currys or online retailers for around £800.

I would go for phillips. You can get some basic models for under 1k. Avoid LG and samsung we have had both in the last 12 months and both hve broken down yet our phillips that is almost 2 years old is still fine

I would actually reverse that because I have seen so many broken Philips TVs.
For a 37 I would look at LG
For a budget model I would also look at Westinghouse.
The HP is nice too and is generally offered at competitive prices.
The Sharp is probably to expensive.

I have a samsung... the 40" but overall i find samsung a good company and have had no faults yet on any electricals from them

you would be better going for a plasma hd ready its a better picture than the LCD i have a 42'' Phillips LCD hd ready and my mates plasma is a better picture but stick with the Phillips they are the best on the market ... happy new year....

The Toshibas are really good at the moment. Try the WLT66 range.

1st things first steer clear of lcd they are rubbish go plasma just bought a phillips plasma brill . the problem with lcd you have to sit face on to watch them please stick with plasma better quality
