Hi,

I've been considering taking the plunge into the LCD or plasma TV market, but don't have cable, satellite, etc. and have basically gone with broadcast network stations in my area. In addition, the reception I currently have on my 32" CRT is fairly poor anyway, even with a set of rabbit ears for antenna.

I don't anticipate adding cable, satellite, etc. to the budget anytime soon. Because of the questionable reception already received, is it really worth spending the dough to upgrade the monitor?

You can still get HD sources to display on your TV with an antennae.

First, go here to determine what your best chances are for particular local stations that broadcast in HD: http://www.checkhd.com/aw/welcome.aspx

ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX, WB, and PBS all broadcast in high-definition using radio frequencies that you can pick up with a good set of antennas.

I personally like LCD after I won a Sony LCD TV off of http://linkachi.com/?0ad . It is said that Plasma TV's will go after 5-6 years because of the lack of a picture tube. But reguardless try out that site, they give away 1 tv every 100 days. And its a simple email enter.

Might as well wait for the prices to continue and drop on the plasma’s if you aren’t going to take advantage of high definition anytime soon.
