has been a lot of debate into which is better. And sevral tests have been done. The only feature better which plasma is meant to have is contrast ratio, for example 5000:1, this is how deep the blacks can be and other colours. But now you can find lcd tv's with equally as good if not better contrast ratios. Other benefits of LCD are: Not being affected by altitude. Using less power. Longer life 60000+ hours. No image burn in. And i believe the sizes of lcd are much more versatile. But however the veiwing angle is not usually as good and if it is a cheap lcd during fast moving programmes the image might blur.
hope it helped :D

Depends on what u are looking for. If picture quality is most important, then go plasma. If longevity, go for the LCD. They last years longer than plasma. I have a Sony Bravia lcd from Costco and it has given me no problems. It was
$450 less than most electronic stores.

I personally like LCD after I won a Sony LCD TV off of http://linkachi.com/?0ad . It is said that Plasma TV's will go after 5-6 years because of the lack of a picture tube. But reguardless try out that site, they give away 1 tv every 100 days. And its a simple email enter.

Readers' Choice: HDTV Survey

It's about time. This year, along with satellite radios, we add HDTVs to the mix. And, as you might expect, readers rate all sorts of vendors offering all sorts of HD technologies, from plasma TVs and rear-projections to good ol' CRTs. But two companies stand out: Pioneer and Sony.
If you look at the overall scores across all technologies, Pioneer is king, with a significantly above-average overall score of 9.0 out of 10. This has a lot do with the fact that readers prefer plasmas to all other HD technologies. Pioneer is one of the biggest plasma vendors, and it's the lone Readers' Choice for this segment of the market, with a 9.1 out of 10. It's also the Readers' Choice for rear-projection TVs, with an 8.7.
In the big picture, across all technologies, Sony is just behind Pioneer, with an overall score of 8.5, and it receives a Readers' Choice award for CRTs (8.4), and LCDs (8.6). Readers also shared their experiences with front-projection TVs, but Sony was the only vendor rated. And because Sony received only 50 responses in total, a Readers' Choice in that niche category will have to wait until next year.
Pioneer
No one comes close. Pioneer garners the highest overall score. The company comes out ahead on rear-projection TVs and, in particular, plasmas.
Sony
Looking for an LCD model—or even a good old CRT? Look to Sony. And Sony's scores are pretty darn good for rear-projection models, too.
SUBCATEGORIES:
Plasma: Pioneer; Rear-projection: Pioneer; CRT: Sony; LCD: Sony; Front-projection: None

Plasma is extra constructive, palms down, yet lcd is a extra constructive "bang for the dollar". you may get a stable lcd below 3k. you will would desire to upward thrust up close to 5k, and positively over 4k in a plasma to triumph over it.

I like plasma for their clarity. . .but if you keep a still picture on a plasma screen for a while, they will be burned into the screen and won't go away.
