One guy came to my apartment and said I cant have cable tv due to no cable put in at that side of the wall. My question is can i hire a guy low price to come in to put cable into the wall so they can hook up cable tv to my apartment??? Also, is this a hard job or big job? I dont understand buildings that are 50 years old can hook up to cable but when I bought my new apartment they cable guy said the men that built my apartment forgot to put cable in wall. Does this make sense?? Any suggestions????

I am currently a Lead Technician for a major cable company in the midwest. Your main problem is that you live in an apartment. On a daily basis we have to deal with many rules and regulations that deal with apartments. In most cases our hands our tied by what the cable company, landlord, and apartment management will allow us to do. There are three main ways to get a line where you need it. We can run a line through an outside wall directly to our connection point outside, but most apartments won't allow this because they do not want additional wiring on the outside of their buildings. Often we can run a line through the attic or crawlspace with a wallfish. Usually this is allowed by apartment management (some are pickier than others) but does take longer to do. Also, if you happen to be on a middle floor (such as a second floor with apartments above and below) a wallfish would be near impossible. The third and easiest way is to tack a line around the room and up and over doorways from an existing outlet to the location. This won't look as nice inside, but most apartment complexes allow this because there is no cable on the outside of the building and when you move out they will just remove it and when they repaint it covers up the small wholes used by the tacks. I would first talk with your complex managers to see what they would allow, make sure to get a signed permission slip from them to give to your cable guy, and then call your cable company to have another tech come out and do it the way you and your apartment management want it done.

My husband used to work for the cable company. Now putting a cable in the wall is hard to do. YOu have to be able to fish it through the original source to where you want it. It can be a very tedious job. i am sure that the person you asked to do it is just being lazy and doens't want to take the time.

Cable men get paid by the job not hte hour and these wall fish jobs are really not wroth it to them.

I would call around, callt he cable company its self and ask them to send someone out who can and will do a wall fish.

get a 2 way splitter and split the cable from the closest room. you could run it on the floor or drill a hollow in the drywall. in case you have satellite tv for pc than you could in basic terms split the cable from the out to television port and the two television's would be on an analogous channel

You might be able to get cable this way but you probably want to install some cables http://www.netfloorusa.com is a place where you can do this for a fair price and great service.
