I just got a Sony 3 LCD rear projection tv and was told that the LCD's bulb will last about 4 to 6 years but with a warranty can be replaced where as a plasma can last for 25 years and when the bulb dies, the tv dies and there is no replacing it. I guess some people say that plasmas screen starts turning bad in about 3 years. I have only seen plasmas at the stores and don't know anybody who owns them. But the image in plasmas are VERY good if you want to take that chance. I was thinking about getting the tv with the ambilight feature which you might have seen a commercial of and it looked great even though it was not a feature that I had to have.It was a plasma

LCD is better because they don't have screen burn like plasma does, but if you want a tv over about 50" you will have to got a plasma. DO NOT GET A REAR PROJECTION TV.

I personally like LCD after I won a Sony LCD TV off of http://linkachi.com/?0ad . It is said that Plasma TV's will go after 5-6 years because of the lack of a picture tube. But reguardless try out that site, they give away 1 tv every 100 days. And its a simple email enter.

Plasma is still having a lot of issues with only lasting 4 or 5 years. LCD has no burn out issues and is a bettery way to go.

Plasma has a higher quality picture.
Costs more, too.
