I have purchased a device in the early 90's, but it seemed that every little noise set it off and it got really annoying so I just took it off. Is there a newer technology device I can attach so we won't have these problems anymore? Thanks

Recently I have been noticing very peculiar things around my house that I havent noticed before.I have been noticing that we alot more big, black wires going into the house. From every corner of the house. There everywhere. They lead to gray, plastic boxes attached to the house.there is at least three maybe four boxes. One of them had "ameritec" on it.I opened it up.Inside there were lots of splitters. The newest one reads "telephone network interface".Also things like telephone cords turning up everywhere and Lots of extention cords and adapters. Also new outlets.Yes outlets, the kind you would plug a toaster or a lamp into.Do I have an electrician fairy or what?According to my husband,he doesnt know the first thing about wiring."not guilty"he says, then he accuses me of puting them in.Theres also about 4-5 lines leading from all different areas of the house to the telephone lines on the telephone poles.I know my lying, cheating spouse of 17 years is behind all of this. What is "this"?HELP ME!

I have a Panasonic NV-W1 (or in the USA; an AG-W1). This is a professional VCR, which plays multiregion, SVHS etc. and cost big bucks.

It's not working - the power seems to be failing - I've had an engineer look at it who can't figure it out. Maybe someone who's more familiar with this sort of stuff can answer.

The problem is, I stick the power into it (230V) and it switches on and then off straight away. When you stick the power back in it doesn't switch on anymore apart from if you wait for a while (with this power cable not attached) will it switch on for a couple of seconds again.

If you have a good idea what the problem is, pls let me know.

Thanks a lot

So I'm taking a very long car ride with kids and was considering the dual screen dvd player for the car. Then I was thinking I should get a single portable to take with me other places. Any ideas on it? Which would be a better investment. Most singles I've seen are almost as much as the dual screen.

What is the easiest way to play my media files (.avi, .mpg, etc.) to TV? I have PC and Laptop but I cannot connect directly to TV as my TV only have AV in and my PCs only have VGA outputs. I am thinking either:
1. Buy VGA to to AV converter for laptop
2. Buy Portable Hard Disk with Media Player
3. Setup a Media Centre PC
4. Burn to DVD and play in DVD Player, but this takes too long
Is there any better idea?
