I was thinking about getting a gaming console for Christmas, but wondering from everyones experience, which is better?
the x-box or the ps2

( i do mean the x-box, not the x-box 360)

Both are good systems but our PS2 mostly collects dust. Xbox has a much better library and variety of games, Xbox live is better structured as well.

It's really a personal call, go to a website and read up on different games to see what appeals to you more, most games are multi-platform, but some titles are exclusive to one console. If you know anyone with either system, ask to borrow it or play as much as you can to see what appeals to you. Otherwise, go to gametrailers and check out the movies for games of each system.

Other things to consider, Xbox has a bulit in hardrive which holds endless amounts of game saves and music which you can rip and listen to while playing many games including GTA. Having both systems and played the same games on each I can tell you Xbox graphics are far better and detailed compared to PS2, not to mention containing more content.

The last thing to consider is waiting and saving for either a 360 or PS3.
Best luck.

Sony by far.

The advancement in the development of their games was much more accellerated, as was their console advancement. Sony made the different models different looking so consumers can destinguish the difference if buying 2nd hand.

If you're going to buy one, buy a silver (platinum) slimlione console, they are the newest and most up to date. The older models have a different dvd player in-biult which is sometimes unable to playback dvds with certain special features.

The only disadvantage to the PS2 is the lack of hard-drive(memory) built-in to the unit.

Pls don't buy a generic memory card, i did and it deleted all my files, buy a genuine sony one.

merry xmas, game on.

I had both, but I don't have the PS2 anymore. It took the big dive on me. Its ok though. I got the XBOX 360 to replace it. I would vote for the XBOX of the two because you can play almost all the same games. The controler is rather big, but if you have big hands like me its not a big deal. They have the smaller controller available as well.
I plan to keep my XBOX forever, I would've kept the PS2 forever too if it hadn't died. I like the gamecube too, but the library is rather small compared to the other two.
