how to change phone number what number should i call or do

Right now, the residence has two telephone lines:

-The first is the primary landline used for telephone service. This is what the new DSL service will be connected with.

-The second is now a landline dedicated to dial-up service. Service to this line will be canceled shortly, because it is not needed with the DSL upgrade.

Since the second line is physically the only telephone jack in the computer room, I want to connect this line into the primary line of the residence.

The woman at the telephone company said this is done by opening the telephone box attached to the outside of my house, and moving the wires. She said this was safe to to by myself and I would not need to hire a technician to do this.

It sounds like I will be able to figure it out, but since I don't want to break anything, I'd like to hear from others about how they have done this in the past.

So its inbound, for a major phone company mainly taking calls from customers in regards to billing inquiries, etc. basically customer service. so anyways they said its commision based and will require sales, for example, if the customer calls the UK a lot to offer them a package that fits their international calling habits. so im a bit worried, because i hear that some call centers cut you off if you dont make the sale or make quotas....if you know anything about this job, please please please respond and tell me all you know or even your previous or present experience working in a call center doing only inbound calls but having to sell too....thank you

I want to get a home phone and transfer my existing cell number to my home phone. Are there any phone services that can do this?
I don't have a high speed internet connection at home so Vonage and similar VoIP services won't work for me.

My house has two working phone lines. I need to change the wiring in one room from the first line to the second line. How do I do this? Initially, when it was wired with line one, only the blue and blue/white wires were connected to the first left and right terminals. What needs to be changed? Also, how to the connections relate to the color diagrams on the sides of the jack?
