i am moving in with my mother at her house and i asked BT if i could have another phone line put in in my name but customer services sain no why is this

they split the line to all the houses in the street, if the line has been split too many times then it will effect the quality of the signal passing through it. if it is an old line the chances are that they'd have to dig up the street and put a whle new cable just for you. they aren't that customer oriented

if you are wanting a line in your name and a different number you can have one it will cost £124.99 and they will carry out a credit check i bt do have to provide everyone a phone line by law call bt back and ask why or alternativly contact ofcom.com they regulate phone providers for more help, advise and information!

You can have a second line put in. It would have to be in the name of the main account holder. He/She is responsible for the second line. A better option would be to ask them for a Twin talk, line splitter. Full info here. You get your own account etc. Regards...

dunno if it will help, but can't you just ask Ntl/Telewest for a phone line (or other leading companies) ..

A while ago we was using ntl and bt for diffrent internet lines at the same time so sure it would be ok for phone lines as well

i believe now you can get new phones where you can dedicate a ringtone for yourself and one for mother hope this helps
