I have lots of experience with DSLRs and manual control and want a similar experience when shooting video.
Specifically, I want to be able to control the aperture, focus and shutter speed. I don't have much money but I am willing to plop down whatever is necessary to get a camera with these features. Thanks for your suggestions.

I have a PC, therefore I don't have final cut. I know Final Cut works for this, but I'm trying to find a solution short of going out and buying a mac and Final Cut.
I'm having a hell of a time trying to find a solid program to capture and edit footage recorded with the Canon AH A1, for the PC. Does anyone have any tips or suggestions about doing this?

Okay, lets see if I can explain this the best way possible.

I broke my video camera, I think way beyond repair (a TV fell on top of it). I have one that plays Hi8 tapes. I don't care so much about the camera as I do about the tapes and the memories they hold.

I've looked into buying a new camera, but 200 dollars is a tad out of my price range, and the next one I get I want to be miniDV or some other digital camera.

My question is...I want to have my tapes put on DVD or even VHS, I don't care which one. The question is, where would I go about doing this, and do any of you have any idea as to how much it would cost?

Any help what so ever would be great....if you have had this problem and found away around it, I'd be happy for your response!

Thanks in advance.

I just bought a Sony Handycam DCR-HC48 with mini-DV tapes, but I can't upload any video to my Dell desktop (which runs Vista). The guide book suggests I connect with a 1394 cable, but none was included. Instead, the box contained a 1394 that splits into red, yellow, and white video cables (but those are only for running to TVs) and a USB connector (but this will not translate video, only still images apparently). What do I do? Am I missing something, or did Sony not put everything in the box?

Well, I have a MiniDV tape I want to upload on my Canon ZR45MC, which also uses SD cards,. I don't have my SD card though, and so I want to upload something on MiniDV. When I tried to use Movie maker to get the file from my camera, it didn't recognise it, although it was shown on the Removable Disk. If I change the setting to tape instead of card, it doesn't recognise it at all.

I am going to be filming a student short film for my acting for the camera class with two actors.
one will be stationary and the other will be moving from a close location to the student.

I was thinking of getting 2 mini cassette mics and or getting a 360 degree mic normally used for business meetings.

any help would be great.
thanks.

I've owned a Canon GL2 for about 2-3 years...haven't used it for a very long time.

I just found out that the firewire port on the camera is damaged.

Anyone have suggestions on a mini-dv deck that can bring the dv tape data into a computer and still retain great quality?

The Sony GV-D1000 has too many features I don't need and it's priced at around a grand. (not worth it).

Got a camcorder. It's a 4pin to 4pin firewire cable. I've heard that I can damage the camcorder if I don't stick the cable in the right way. I can't find any markings on the cable to indicate which way to put the cable in and connect it to the card. Help?
