is there a way to salvage the tape you record with a video camera that has been torn and unraveled?

my 3 year old got one of the tapes that go with the video camera and not only unraveled it but tore it from the cartridge. it is torn is several places and right now it is just balled up. is there a way to take that tape and load it into some kind of feeder and then put the video on a disc? its the birth of my son so it is special to me. any suggestions??
