Well, I have a MiniDV tape I want to upload on my Canon ZR45MC, which also uses SD cards,. I don't have my SD card though, and so I want to upload something on MiniDV. When I tried to use Movie maker to get the file from my camera, it didn't recognise it, although it was shown on the Removable Disk. If I change the setting to tape instead of card, it doesn't recognise it at all.

Use the DV or firewire connection to transfer video from the tape - the USB connection is only for transferring from the SD card.

First of all, you can't upload video off a DV camera when it shows up as a removable disk. Plug in via firewire (USB will NOT work), turn your camera on and put it into VCR mode, and it should get detected, but won't show up as a drive. If it doesn't automatically pop up with a screen, open up movie maker, click capture video from device, and it should work. You can get a cheap firewire adapter for your computer for under $40 at any major electronics store if you don't have one already on your computer. Hope this helps!

Are you using FireWire.

Generally you need FireWire. If you computer doesn't have this, you need to add a PCI card for FireWire and buy a cord or get a FireWire to USB which MAY or MAY not work.
