I'm just starting to take video off of my video camera[canon elura 100] and putting it on my computer. I made one 17 minute video but its a 700mb file. I need to make it smaller than that. What is the best type of video format to use or how can I compress this video to make it smaller? Ideally, I'd like to make them small enough so I can post them on the internet for my friends to watch them or putting them on youtube or something.

Hi everyone!
I am going to be filming my best friends wedding here in July, and I am looking for the best 'steady stick' to use. I'd like to use one that has more flexibility than a tripod, and is also pretty light. I want to achieve smooth video results, especially while walking. For example, following the Bride and Groom from the church to the limo ect. I will also be filming from high and low angles. I've seen the cheap one (est. $99) around the internet that attaches to your waist, but I don't really like it too much. Any suggestions? BTW The camera I'm using is a Sony HDR-FX1 Thanks for all help in advance!!

I do a lot of amateur video editing, familiy stuff, currently with a MiniDV digital camera. I am tempted to upgrade to High Def, but can't spend more than ~ $1200. Do you think those low budget high definition cameras are worth the upgrade? Should I spend more or should I wait?

It is a GE Vhs Camcorder from the early eighties. Too embarrassing to use in public. Cost a thousand dollars brand new and in perfect condition. I hate to throw it away. Any good ideas as to what to do with them now ? Send it to Mexico or would that insult them too ?

everytime I try to shoot a picture of the television with my webcam, and it's too bright, there's these black stripes running up and down the screen of the picture, how do I stop that? And I'm using Windows Movie Maker.

This article http://www.camcorderinfo.com/d/Reviews&level_b=Camcorder&level_c=MiniDV.htm says that MiniDV "is quickly being ushered out, despite many adherents." It's the cheapest medium with the greatest recording time (right?), and the format doesn't require heavy PC specs for editing (right?). Will I still be safe to get a MiniDV camcorder? Or will I find myself wishing I had waited for the next-gen (or spent the extra cash for it)?

I have noticed that many of CNET's recommended picks are being sold by refurb outlets. Few, if any, are available from the big box stores, which I take as an indication of the situation.

If you've bought any camcorder in the past 3-6 months, tell me which model and how your experience has been. If you can, please recommend a camcorder with decent low-light performance.

Thanks.

Hello,

How are you?

My name is Jason and I go to Bentley College in MA. I am taking a video class, and they have the canon gl2.

For spring break we have a frisbee tournament down in Georgia, and I want to be able to take still images of the action(other people will be taking movies). I was wondering how good this movie camera would be for taking action shots.

Would it be worth it for me to bring this camera? I know the zoom is great, but it's not meant for still photos.

thanks,

Jason

My parents have a General Electric Camcoder model 9-9806. They have no image when they turn the camera on. They brought it some time ago to an electronics shop and the owner said that the iris was dirty and needed to be cleaned. The shop is not open anymore and my dad wants to know if he can do it himself. Any ideas how someone would clean an iris for this type of camcorder?

I just got a Macbook, and I wanna try some programs like iDVD and iMovie...unfortunately, the video camera(DCR-TRV460 from Sony) does not handle this well. I'm looking for alternative camcorders, under $ 100, that would be EXTREMELY easy to use in iMovie(all I'm looking for is something where the Mac sees the device, shows me the videos(hopefully long) and lets me place them into iMovie. It should be able to hold 3-4 hours of average quality tape.

Is what I'm looking for possible?
