It is possible, even at a consumer level. But at 30 FPS, you will spend ages doing it. I know, because I have done t.

I have done very short scenes with "Video Paint" (part of the Ulead MediaStudio package) , one frame at a time. With camera movements and such, I was able to piece together a background, which I used to "blank out" the unwanted person. Careful alignment, and rotation, as well as blending in soft edges made a good job. Nobody noticed.

Its possible.

You would have to go frame by frame and "paint" them out.
And remember that DV runs at around 30 frames/sec.

Thats 30 frames for each second you want to edit out.

Overall... Your better off just blurring the face of the person.

With most premium video editing suites you can basically put a black box or a mosaic type of effect on the persons face and tell it where to move when to move (kinda like in the show cops)

That would be alot easier.

Yes, but it can be very hard and time consuming.

They edit things out of motion pictures on a day to day basis, it's very normal. But, they have millions of dollars to put into it.

Better to edit the video to not include those scenes if you can. Maybe someone else has a better answer.

Hope that helps.

I think Adobe Premier is the right software for this job but it cost a fortune...

Yes, however I'm planning to write a long answer, which I can't do right now, so check back later.
