where are the tv channels?

hello everyone. we just purchased a Sony 46" LCD TV and its great and blahblah (if not a bit big.. hehe). well now my dad tells us we must buy HD tv services instead of regular cable or something. (or something like "digital cable with HD.")

anyways, what are the steps? i know that news channels such as "eyewitness news 7" are in high definition, but what does that mean? does that mean that for the viewers with regular TVs, the "HD" doesnt make a difference? and for viewers with PLasmas and LCDs and all that good stuff, it does make a difference? thats a wild guess im taking but basically,
im asking HOW DO PARTICULAR CHANNELS/NEW STATIONS BEING IN "HIGH DEF." AFFECT THEIR AUDIENCES? is the difference in the TV itself or the type of cable service we have??

I have a Sigma film camera with Sigma lenses. What digital cameras will they fit on? I particularly like the Nikon D80, but I'm still looking - any suggestions on brand and model (regardless if the Sigma lenses fit)?

Can someone help me out in getting a 1080p TV. Also more importantly when I put in the headphones, I would want the external speaker to work too, so that people around me can hear what I am hearing too. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,
I aleardy have a Nikon camera with 4 mega pixel, 3x optical zoom. However, I cant get good picture in a concert or video recording. So I am looking for a high optical zoom camera like Song DSC 800. It comes in 8.1 mega pixel, 6x optical zoom, 12x digital zoom but its limitation is that it is using Sony lens rather than Carl Zeiss. Can anyone tell me is it good?

I understand that 1280 x 720i/p and 1980 x 1080i/p indicate the number of vertical horizontal lines on an HDTV set but when I check out manufacturers' specs for their HDTV's, you see specs like 1024 x 768, 1365 x 768, and 1280 x 1080. As you can see, nothing matches. So how for example, can a manufacturer advertising a 1024 x 768 tv claim to show 1080i when the tv physically has only 768 horizontal lines?

The tel no. for Polaroid (UK) would also do as a last alternative but would idealy prefer a suitable adapter model no. instead so i can check out the cheapest prices.
Thanks in advance

Can anyone explain why this happens? I have a portable TV in my bedroom, it is usually left on standby and switched off using the remote control. Quite often when I turn the bedrrom light on. the TV switches on at the same time, we have recently moved house and this used to happen in the old house too! Is my TV possessed or is there some other explanation?

Hi I"m currently studying film in college but I will be spending 10-14 weeks abroad. I am looking for a camera that I could bring with me to document my trip then I would edit it all together on finalcut when I got back. I am looking for something very cheap (under $350), small, somewhat durable, and easy too use. I just want to be able to capture/store my footage easily and I"m not looking to do anything fancy. Any suggestoions would be appreciated. Thanks
