LCDs. They have a more vivid image, and they are not venerable to burn in images. LCDs are however limited to size. They only go up to the 50" range where as plasmas can go far beyond that.

OMG! Plasma's burn oil...that's the most retarded answer i've seen on this website so far!!! PLASMA IS A GAS!!! Anyways, Plasma's have the best pic quality and i highly recommend them for sizes 42" or larger. Panasonic & Pioneer are the best however, Pioneer is very, very expensive!!! For sizes 40" or less...go with a LCD. Samsung, LG, Sony & Sharp are some of the best & most reliable. As for the whole 720/1080p thing, i recommend going to a TV salesperson or expert and ask them which would be best for YOUR situation because regardless of what some idiots say, 1080P isn't always necessary! It's actually a waste of money!!!

newbees should not ask those questions here. All u get is a lot of opinions and little real fact.
u need to do your homework on the net.
here is some basic stuff
http://www.cnet.com/4520-7874_1-5137915-1.html
the try googling "HDTV reviews"
u will find PANASONIC on the top of the list for Plasma
and SONY or SHARP for LCDs
then u can decide which technology u want after looking at them. But take the view in a store with a grain of salt, because the set is tuned for max wow and is not how u will tune it at home.
Internet has best prices, but watch out for the lowest price shysters. read the reviews of the site. I can recommend Monitor Outlet.

LCD is usually better for games, Plasma is better for movies / sport. Its all up to what you do more, They both get the same resolution (picture quality) but plasmas are usually cheaper and have better colour.
