Sigma lenses: where will they fit? What camera do you suggest over all?

I have a Sigma film camera with Sigma lenses. What digital cameras will they fit on? I particularly like the Nikon D80, but I'm still looking - any suggestions on brand and model (regardless if the Sigma lenses fit)?

I know that Sigma never actually made 35mm cameras. They paid another company that did make cameras and had them branded as Sigma. I want to say Pentax was the one but I really can't say for sure. Try a google search for Sigma and maybe you can find out. Your local camera store might know. I know MINOLTA, back in the '70's, licensed the Chinese to build the Seagull which accepts older MINOLTA film camera lenses. If - IF - it was Pentax and the mount is a K-mount then by all means check out the new Pentax K10D SLR. 10mp, IS built into the body and it accepts all Pentax K-mount lenses. If its a MINOLTA clone you'll need an adapter to use the Sigma lenses on the Sony DSLR (Sony bought the line from Konica-Minolta when K-M ceased camera production in 2006).

Find someone with a Pentax K1000 or MINOLTA X-700 and see if your lenses fit. Sigma might have had Seagull build their cameras.

It should say what kind of mount is used on the lens. All of Sigmas current DSLR cameras use a Sigma mount. If that's the case with your film camera then your lenses will be limited to Sigma Cameras.
