When I shut off my yamaha receiver (did this with my old receiver also so it is not a receiver issue) I hear a humming noise from my sub.

Never any trouble when the system is on....and also when wiggling the sub cable around a bit it stops humming, but starts again later on as the cable is never able to stay in a position where it's ok.

I am using a Monster THX Ultra 1000 Series sub cable.....could it be a sub cable problem?

I recently moved my Satellite receiver from upstairs to downstairs and now its giving me the "Acquiring Satellite Signal" attention box, I was wondering if it should eventually find the satellite, and if so how long? Otherwise is there anything I can do to find it, and if not, Should I call them and schedule a technician to come fix it?

My friend borrowed some albums from the public library. He wanted to burn the albums on my computer and transfer it to his mp3 player. I thought it was illegal to burn copyrighted music without even owning it. He let me borrow the albums. He suggest i transfer it to my ipod. I really want to transfer these albums. It's just that i don't want to be in deep **** with the law. Is it illegal to burn music from the public library?

Before you say it - 'because their bored' yes very good but I beat you to it!

Seriously though Ive noticed it with some pieces of equipment in this case its a Hi-Fi. Even though its off NOT on standby, but properly off - you can still hear a hum.

It is still on at the socket but other devices don’t do this. Is it bad design electronically or is there a reason some devices do this?

alright.. FIRST OFF .. i have Two Technics floor standing speakers with 280 Peak power how much is that in continuous(RMS) power????? I just got my PS3 today brand new from amazon, however the system was hot instant i turn on, and still is. Plus is very nosier, louder than my desktop. Is that normal? Or should ask sony for help?

Hi, I have Sony receiver 5.1 channel 5x100w
How do I set up rear speaker so that the rear speaker can be surround. I did plug in into rear speaker but can't work.
I try to change the mode and studio type but it's still the same. Is it has to be 5.1 channel audio output from DVD player. Is anybody can help me I can appreciate.

i have a 5 disc RCA stereo...i know not great but it's a decent little unit. The problem is it was working fine one day & then the next time ( i don't know how long it was) i went to play a cd....no sound whatsoever. It looks like it's playing the tracks but nothing on the radio,tapes,etc. I thought maybe it was the speakers,so i tried a different set...still nothing. I may have had some power outages & someone suggested that they may have blown my transistors (whatever those are). The stereo is only 3 years old & i want to know if it would be worth taking it to a shop to have someone look at it & fix it. The unit cost about $150.00 & i know that's not much but right now i can't afford to buy a new one. Any advice from anyone??

I just came across an old radio.
It’s called Metronoma from Crystal Research Laboratories, Inc
The Model # is MP-100-PA.
It has 1 tube inside (like the old TV’s had) 2 wire’s going to something that look like a speaker. I don’t know old the radio is, but looking at the inside I would say it goes back some years. If anyone has some information about this radio please let me know.
