Consumer Electronics - 3 December 2006

Help! My husband passed away a few months ago and I find myself raising 3 kids on my own. Why is it this year the only thing on my kids x-mas list is the Nintendo Wii? I have been searching everywhere as many of you have (even waited in -6 below temp, but no luck). This x-mas is going to be so difficult, I wanted to at least try to get a smile or two. If anyone has any advice or knows how I can get one for closer to retail, I will greatly appreciate it.

I like this girl that I know but I never see her at school. I sometimes see her when I'm waiting for my bus but thats it. I take different was to my classes everyday to see if I can find her but I never do.

If you have an Ipod can you use any music on it as long as it's not in WMA format? Or does it HAVE to be from Apple's Itunes?

I'm trying to buy a DVD as a Chrstmas gift and it's only available as a region 1 version from the US or canada (I'm in the UK). I know it's possible to make most DVD players play most DVD's, regardless of region, but what does the NTSC bit mean?

Is there a phone for emergencies only that can be bought and not have to pay monthly fees? I want it for the car glove compartment to call 911 if I'm in an accident. The cheapest cell phone I've seen is still $20 a month, $240 a year. I don't need it for any other reason and don't want to pay so much.

I'm looking to get my father an ipod or mp3 player, but he isn't much on listening to music. He likes to listen to the books on tap/cd stuff. The books on cd can be from 12-30 some hours worth of data, and my stepmother can get the cd's from the library and then rip them on the computer. So which would be better to have, and what size of mp3 or ipod would i need?

So I am going to by a camcorder that tapes on to mini dv's. I was wondering, is there like a VHS that you can place the mini DV in and be able to watch it from a VHS player? I know they have those when the video cameras were big and bulky, but I was wondering if they still made them and where can I buy on?
