A Playstation 2 is worth getting but, if you do, you should purchase a used one at a used game store. If you really have to have a Playstation, you might think about the Playstation 3. However, it is also worth noting that the preliminary reports from consumers and critics rate the Nintendo Wii as the better game system. So, once you're sure which system you want, you'll be better able to make a good decision. If you choose Playstation, just go with the Playstation 3 with the better games, better graphics, etc. If you're not sold on Playstation, then Nintendo Wii is less expensive, has better role playing games, and roughly the same graphics. It just depends on what you want. But if you do purchase a PS2, just do it at a used game shop. Sounds like you're more concerned about the money. Just remember, PS2 games play in the PS3. It's worth noting.

If you haven't had one, yes, absolutly.

There are an absolute ton of games for whatever you're into. Sure, the graphics aren't the greatest but they're only slightly less powerful then the Wii. There's more than enough to keep you busy all year, and with the new system releases, people are going to be liquidating their old games to get money to afford a PS3.

Get your PS2 from GameStop or something, they're going to be pretty much the same price everywhere. If you've got a lot of time, keep an eye on Ebay. Now, it can be hard to do on eBay because there are tons of old broken ones people are selling for scrap parts. Use the advanced search function.

Deffinetly buy your games on eBay. You can buy a lot of various games for a good price.

Yes they are worth it. There are a ton of games out there. With all of the people buy PS3 there are some good bundle packages if you want new. I have brought 2 of them from some gaming places that take trades from patrons. and they can be alot less in price depending on the condiction of them. and buy use games of get a mail service such as Gamefly and you can try different games before you buy them. Hope that helps

If your really into the latest stuff I would move on but, in my case I got one for my Dad to replace the sega genesis he had been playing with for over a decade. He mostly plays a basketball game and that is it. My cousins tell me that they are really not impressed by it. My dad loves it but look what he had before!
