why is the playstation 3 sooo expensive? is it that cool?

i heard it was like 1,500 or something like that...
i want to get it for my boyfriend this christmas, and i can pay for it but i was wondering if it was really worth it?
what do u recommend

itz amazing!!

its really 600 dollars but its been sold out for a looong time... so theres none in store... gicev him a note sayin that u will buy it for him when the need dies down...

yeah but theres none and they r trying to send more out (reserve it)
also it reads digital camera memory cards which is coool

it also has free enternet which is sick!!

The PS 3 came out with 2 version: One with a 20GB HD $499, one with a 60GB HD for $599--they also have a Blue-ray dvd drive. The $499 version will also lack several features found in the more expensive one. The $1500 price is because there is a shortage of PS3 and people are selling theirs on Ebay. It's not worth it. The games looked the same as the xbox 360 and with any new product there will be some glitches with the PS3. The best thing to do for your boyfriend is to get him a xbox360. Why?? because the xbox 360 is just as good, cost less and have plenty of games to play on. Just make sure you buy the premium version, it has a hardrive and wireless controller. You can get your boyfriend a PS3 next year when it's not as expensive and there should be easy to find.

Either way your gonna end up paying over $1000. Heres how: The ps3 alone costs like 600 for the normal 20gig one and the 60 gig one cost a hundred bucks more; however, the ps3 is so much in demand and so rare right now, the value of it has gone up by twice. It is worth paying that much though. It is supposed the be the best video game system made. I suggest you wait for a while and then get it. Because you wont get it anywhere near 700 bucks for another year. Sony is supposed to ship out another 400,000 to the US soon but nobody nows about that yet. Or you can get an XBOX 360 which is very similar and less expensive. But then again its not a ps3. That decision is up to you, Good Luck!

That's around what you might pay on eBay. MSRP is $600, but you'll have to find it in a store to get it for that price. Good luck, because everyone else is too.

It's expensive because everyone wants one and there are only around 350,000 on the market.

Even $600 is seems high, but they're losing somewere between $100 and $200 on each unit sold. This is because Blu Ray (A new High Def DVD format) is so new, putting them in a system is really expensive. At $600, it's really a bargin. I still haven't seen graphics that are $600 good and I don't think I ever will. Some people might think it's worth it.

Its 500$ or 600$ retail, but you cant find em retail, ull have to wait for next year. If u want one now, u need 2000$ and a PayPal account. Listen, go on amazon. It says new or used from these SELLERS.

Well, from stores, it's about 499 or 599 depending on witch one you get, the cheap one has less memory, and no blu-ray thing, the expensive one has all this and more.

yes it is really worth it and you cant really find it in stores rit ow.
and the reason why it is also that expensive is because it makes it that much harder to get and people alwas want what they cant get.
and that is what sony has done with this

no it's not that price...at walmart, they are between $599 and $700...but the games are around $60 each...I think it would be worth it
