Well i downloaded this vid off the internet, i tried playing it and this window pops up saying "Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file." can someone help me solve this issue so i can watch my video?

My wife bought me a brand new computer (Acer) from BestBuy in April. I noticed an icon in the taskbar for PROBLEMS & SOLUTIONS so I clicked it. It opened up a window which says:

"Upgrade to the latest retail version of Windows Vista - The problem was caused by Windows Vista, which is created by Microsoft Corporation. You are running a beta version of Windows Vista, which is no longer supported by Microsoft Corporation."

How is it possible that Vista thinks it is beta or is it possible Acer install a beta version on my computer?

Ok so i downloaded this video on torrents, i tried playing it on my windows media 11 player it only showed me the sound not the visual and on the bottom of the player it says im gonna need a codec or something like that in order to see the video.....i suppose, so can anyone send me good codec downloads so i can finally watch my video?

I would like a program that allows me to use my laptop as basically a tv remote, like the Omniremote programs does for my palm pilot.
