In the Control Panel it only has Name of Program, rarely used and nothing else. How can I fix this?

I assume you mean under the heading ADD/REMOVE Programs. That name is just as shorthand way of mentioning a program you might want to remove. It is not all that your computer knows about the program and it is just there in case you want to delete an existing program. Ignore it at all other times.
