Software - July 2007

I spent all of yesterday typing up work on Mircosoft Word 2007, the autosave feature was on so i stupidly did not manually save my work all day. I put my pc in hibernation mode so i could get something to eat and when i got back i had troubles trying to turn the pc back on which resulted in me restarting my pc.
When i opened Microsoft Word i discovered my work had not been auto saved meaning i'd lost all off my work done that day. I went on to the microsoft help page, using information there i manage to track the location of my autosaved work, it was an ASD. file, only thing is Word will not let me open the ASD file as it says it is uncompatible. any ideas??????

Help would be much appreciated!

I'm trying to share a folder where the root of that folder will be read-only but the subdirectories need to be read/write access. I'm having trouble wrapping my head around the process for doing this on any Windows 2K/XP/Server 03 installation. Anyone done anything like this before. Or is it impossible.

i like both
but possibily the web more
but one advantage with rss reader is that it is one complete stop for all news and entertainment and everything ,
everything is displayed on one screen

ok well i really need a free program like microsoft word, i have a windows XP and it came with office 2003, but i have to buy the stupid product, i really need help on finding a free version of word! i'm 14 and well i am writing storys, songs, etc. and i really need this program bc i can't write, bc i can't hold a pencil or apen for very long bc i have this disease that cuases my hands to sweat frequently,

if anyone knows a website that offers a free version download for microsoft word or something similar, please tell me!!

i've thoguht of over 6 books i'm planning on wiriting, and without this program i'll never get them out =/

pdf, it becomes about 12 Mg, and I have problebm sending it by email.
how can I reduce the size of word or pdf?
I want the size of pdf to be about 2 Mg in order to send it via e-mail

Ok.

1. Let's say you have 4 squares. You want to place them at a certain spot on the page, but spaced EVENLY. I have actually seen someone put 1 square in 1 place, 1 in another, and seen them use a command that automatically places all the shapes evenly between the two.

2. I have a rectangle. I am trying to place 3 other evenly sized rectangles inside of the first rectangle. I tried to just do it by hand, but it was very annoying, and I now that there should be some sort of simple command, or something that helps with this task.

3. A lot of the times, in these Photoshop tutorials, they will tell you to draw a rectangles (x) pixels high. Is there any way to easily know how many pixels you are using at a given time? I know there is ctrl + r for the ruler things, but I don't know if that is measured in pixels or what.

I have a dell inspiron 1000, and I am trying to format and install a fresh copy of windows XP home edition.

Using the cd, the complete format of the partition will not work it just sits at 0%, I have waited for it to move for upto 3 hours, I have installed windows xp on my two pcs and niether took that long to work.

The quick format works and then it installs the setup files and reboots. However after rebooting it goes to the windows screen, then the setup screen and then to a blue error screen.
which says...

I have tried several times to completely format the laptop, but it just don't work and everytime I use the quick format it does the same thing that I described earlier.

I'm trying to get started with Mozilla Thunderbird and I haven't got a clue about how to set it up. It wants a server name? I have DSL, I'm using SBC (sbcglobal.net) as my internet server and as my email provider that uses yahoo mail. Can anyone help? IF you need more details just ask and I'll do my best to add details!

I just bought a laptop with Windows Vista Home Premium. It won't play any of my videos (which are .ASF videos). It says that i am missing the Microsoft ADPCM Format (2) Codec. I have looked everywhere to download it or buy it or anything. I have also taken it to BestBuys Geek Squad and they didn't know what to do. Does anyone know how i can get ahold of this codec?

I recently downloaded LimeWire (thinking that it was 100% legal), but then the installer asked me if I wanted to use filters to make it legal. I went online and researched the matter, but didn't find much about the filters. I am told by LimeWire that it is legal to download anything within the filtered searches, but I can find almost any song that I search for when the filters are turned on. Would somebody please explain to me the legality of using LimeWire WITH filters as opposed to LimeWire WITHOUT filters.

My boss said that she heard hat there is a way to make timesheets on Excel and that it will calculate the total hours for the week by itself instead of manually adding up the hours. Is this possible and if so how do you do it?
