Well, I did what everyone said. I downloaded a DVD Reader Software thing. I'm using DVD X Player, a free trial currently, but whenever I insert a DVD it says I must insert it into drive E:. So I went to My Computer > Drive E: and it says there is no disk that is being read. Why? :| I hope this is more information that may help you figure out my problem than in the last question. Thanks.

I just got rid of a mega-virus and got everything to run again on my pc, all except Internet Explorer. It keeps closing out and giving me an error message about being blocked by DEP or something like that because it was damaged by the virus. Anyone have any idea what I should do? I thought about contacting microsoft but it takes for ever to post on their site.

My computer said i had low disk space so i just decided to delete some programs and deleted the ones that i was unsure of which i shouldn't have and after that i tried playing some songs and the audio won't play. You can't hear anything on my computer now. I deleted some kind of software for audio. And i have no clue which software it is. It says that i am missing a audio codec and what is that? Please help me get this software quickly so i can REDOWNLOAD it. Thanks :)

I am working on a Word doc (Word 2000 on a XP OS). And I've lost my file twice. This is how it happens: I work on my file and I save it regularly with the backup option enabled. And for no apparent reason, I save my file and suddenly, a message appears telling me it cannot save the file because it couldn't find it and it shuts the file. When I check in the Explorer to open that file again, it has disappeared. How weird? First time I thought I had probably accidentally deleted it, while I couldn't recall doing such an idiot thing. The second time, I'm sure I haven't.
I've run my Antivirus (Norton) and it doesn't find anything suspicious.
I've searched the whole drive for my file, and it's not there.
The recup.doc it created is crypted.
The file was on an external drive connected to the PC through a USB port.
The external drive still has some available space (122 Go)
And it is securely connected to the PC.
Thanks for your help.

Are the drivers on the recovery cd's? Help?? I'm new at this and I'm doing this for someone else-(kinda scarey), this is my mom's pc. Do you simply insert the cd's? What do people mean by format or re-format and install? Is that what fdisk means? I already used system recovery twice tonight and it didn't correct the problem.

(When trying to play a video in Media Center it says: "Files needed to display video are not installed or not working properly")

**I've tried system recovery, system restore, codec pack, various virus/spyware scan's, Called HP technical support twice, and I still have the same problem-seems like using the recovery cd's is the only choice left, but I've never done this before. Help.....

I have a laptop with the student and teacher version trial that has expired. I have a professional office to install but I want to use all the data from the trial version. I installed the new without removing the trial version and I could not get it to work. I have been told to remove the trial and then install the full version but how do I make sure I don't loose all the emails and data in Outlook, Word and Excel?
