Software - October 2006

I have had this printer installed on this computer for one year. For the last two months, the pictures have been printing out really dark. I have installed new ink cartridges. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the printer. The pictures print perfect from other printers. This printer has printed pictures of really good quality in the past, and I really like it. Can someone please tell what to do to fix this problem?

My computer is really messed up and I'm trying to find some really good anti-virus program(s) and something that'll remove and prevent spyware as well. I've had McAffee and in the past and I wasn't thrilled with it. I downloaded a trial version of eAcceleration's Stop Sign and it seems good, it found a trojan that my AVG Free version didn't. I've also heard of a program called NOD 32 and heard that is was good. I've heard Norton is good, but not the best. If you have any suggestions or reccomendations, I would appreciate them. Thank you for your help!

1024 MB RAM
5500 GFX Nvida, 256 mb card
80 GB harddrive

Which is better, Oblivion on low/ultralow graphics setting or should I get Oldblivion?

I had some things mixed up, and had to reset the defaults. Now I have this little yellow envelope with a sunburst on it down in the lower right next to my clock, and it keeps popping up with notification every time I get an email message. Since much of it is spam anyway, this is annoying. I've looked all over the "control panel" and can't find how to stop it. I have the "stop pop-ups" setting on, but it's not stopping it.

i have a real copy of windows 98 se on loan to me and i am trying unsuccessfuly to copy it. i have the start up disk, and a product key but i cant get the cd to copy. why? i have been using cd burner xp to burn them. can anyone tell me how to do this (in theory) and/or what i am doing wrong?

I have a 300GB external HD. Due to a lot of backups and maybe incompetence, I have a lot of duplication. Because my external HD is almost full, is there a program I can run that would eliminate all the duplication?

I recently purchased a laptop (a Toshiba M115-S3094, if you're curious) that came with Windows XP Media Center...and a whole lotta crap that eats up a lot of CPU and memory. I want to format the lappy to rid of all the crap pre-installed on the computer. Would there be any problems using an XP Home CD, and entering an XP Media Center key? Don't worry, both are legit, so please don't lecture me on "pirating" copyrighted material. I would use the "Recovery CD" that came with my lappy, but it'd just install the same bloat that I'm trying to get rid of. I really don't care too much for the extras that come with Media Center, so I won't be missing that if I were to use the XP Home CD to install.
