I had some things mixed up, and had to reset the defaults. Now I have this little yellow envelope with a sunburst on it down in the lower right next to my clock, and it keeps popping up with notification every time I get an email message. Since much of it is spam anyway, this is annoying. I've looked all over the "control panel" and can't find how to stop it. I have the "stop pop-ups" setting on, but it's not stopping it.

That only happens when you are signed in to Yahoo Messenger. When you close that out, the little message thingy will disappear.

This is probably comming from yahoo messenger, not a windows notification (so it wont be in control panel)..
In Yahoo, go to preferences, click alerts in the left panel, click "I recieve a a message in yahoo mail" and un-check it all

btw, you're supposed to stop email "notifications/alerts", not pop-ups
