what this command do :

grep, egrep, fgrep, export, find a file in history?


history | grep cat
and how can we find something in our history file?
or how we can display all files which ends with *.html in our current directory or history file.
waht does export command exactly do and grep and egrep and fgrep?

When I recieved my laptop, it had XP Home. A friend of mine gave me XP Pro. I installed, everything worked great. A computer geek friend of mine told me later that the Pro I recieved was a bootleg copy. So he gave me an OEM version. I installed everything works great, but now I'm stuck with a dual boot chioce screen upon startup. How do I uninstall one of the XP's? Please help...

I'm using FFX1.5, with "view in IE tab" extension which resolves most pages best viewed in IE (in my own experience). If I don't download IE7, will my Yahoo experience be diminished? I've read other forums in which users of IE7 experienced odd behavior in their PCs when they installed it, and even when they uninstalled it. I'm not an MS-hater, just MS-cautious. I do hate buggy computing (user experience).

I've located my task bar vertically on the left; when I open Mozilla or MSIE, there's no problem -- but MS Excel consistently hides part of the worksheet behind the task bar when I first open it.

I've tried adjusting the size, dragging the margins of the workbook around until they fit where I want them, then closing and re-opening Excel -- but it returns to its (apparently, some sort of default) position.

How can I get it to occupy only the part of the display not occupied by the task bar?

I work at a help desk. There are about 20 of us here at this location. Our company has us logon to most of our applications (such as the password reset tools, ticket management system) via websites. Once we logon, the websites only seem to have about 10 minute timeout periods set. It is very aggravating to click a button to update a ticket, but if we don't hit SAVE within a few minutes, then it prompts us to logon again when we do, and then our updates are lost and our tickets are "locked" and in-use causing us to have to call out to get someone to unlock them. Our password reset tools are almost as aggravating. If we haven't done a password reset in 10 or 15 minutes then when we fill in the user info it will prompt us to logon, then we have to fill in the user info again.

Is there a 3rd party application we could use to "keep-alive" a connection to multiple websites so we are never timed out?

is it possible to copy the full contents of a hard disk to another one by copy and paste..

i know it is possible by means of third party applications such as diskclone, norton ghost etc. but that's not what i'm asking.

I've pressed ctrl and and clicked on the file to associate the file to Quicktime/WMV player and it still won't play. the file appears to be recognized as a quicktime file but nothin. I thought Macs were supposed to be easy to use. Instead this thing is becoming a pain in the ***.
