Software - October 2006

I found a way to make my e-mail private and secure, requiring passwords to open my e-mails, but is there some specific software or way to make any other programs or files I choose (like my word processing files, etc) private and secure?

I have a pretty old version of Microsoft Word. I need to use Clipart for homework. On school computers, there are many many images for it. At home, I typed "swimming" and there were no results! I'm sure it would have worked if I used the school computer. Do I need to update my program?

So I have AIM version 5.9.6089 and after I sign on, I can view other ppl's profiles and such-pretty normal. However, after a few minutes, my connection breaks, but it still appears as if i'm still logged on. I can send messages, but i don't receive any. That was until i realized that the person on the other side was not receiving them either. I can find out if i have been disconnected by seeing if i can view the profiles of other people. if it said something like "... getting buddy info.." then i knew i had been disconnected. Then, i would either log-on an no symptoms would occur for about 3 minutes, or AIM would automatically reconnect with ease. I have roadrunner and the connection is fine. I can still browse the net with ease. I used trillian a week ago, but i'm not sure if it affects nething
I also have a router, and everything works fine. I'm under a firewall, and i have it set up to allow AIM for incoming/outcoming connections. Does anyone have any idea what is wrong?

My boss was previously using MS Money (2002 I think) at work and the guy who had the password and kept track of everything doesn't work at the company anymore.

My boss cannot remember the password and tried a password recovery software which did not work because of the password length.

Any ideas on what he can do to get into the file without knowing the password?

I am interested in any software that has been written specifically for this OS. If you know the address of site, could you be kind enough to pass it on.

I am specifically interested in virus and anti spyware tools and video conversion tools.

Also anything that shows of the extra power of 64 bit.

For example I typed an essay using Microsoft Office Word 2003, and I want to change the word "Lawrence" to "Larry", throughout the entire document, without having to manually change it. I inherited a used computer that had a primary partition with WinME installed, plus an extended dos partition. I want just one large partition with WinXP Pro installed. I have tried using FDISK to remove the extended dos partition with no luck. Other than buying Partition Magic (or similar), is there anyway to get my hard drive back to just one big partition?

i have just installed avg free edition anti virus so can i now take off all aspects of norton?and norton asks me do i want windows firewall to go back to its pre-installation date when i pretend to delete it.is it safe to go back to this date if im going to delete norton.

I am caught in a loop with Windows XP. My computer powers up, does the memory test and then takes me to an option screen where I can choose if I want to start in Safe, safe with commad prompt, safe with networking, load last successful settings or start windows normally. No matter what I do, I get the windows logo for about 10 seconds then the computer re-starts. Any suggestions? Every once and a while, I get into the setup and it says that the speed of my processor is off... any direction is appreciated.

Before i would get option to select xp or windows server 2003, but now after installing linux, i have only two options ; 1. linux , 2. xp,

I took some shots of some mountains. I want to combine several photos into one panorama photo. I've seen this before. I have a Photo Editor software, but it's not very advanced. I supposed I could crudely do this in Paint, but is there some way to do this in most photo editors?

Please help, on my school computers the system tray has been disabled. I need to acces it because of applications like MSN Messenger, or the U3 LaunchPad and other U3 appliciations. Is there any way of viewing the system tray on a limited account like software that I can install on my pen drive so I can view it (it doesnt matter if its not U3 bur if it is :P) Or if you know a way of accesing the U3 LaunchPad after its opend and automaticly minimizes to the tray without using it, like hot-keys.
