I found a way to make my e-mail private and secure, requiring passwords to open my e-mails, but is there some specific software or way to make any other programs or files I choose (like my word processing files, etc) private and secure?

If you are using windows XP, then the easiest way would be to create separate user accounts for different people who may use the machine and giving each his own password. By doing this, you can be assured that nobody else will get into your files. Uhhhh---------- Start/control panel/ user accts. -- from there set your acct and password and do so for all other users. Once each user has their own acct. windows will use a different set of files for each user-- thereby making it a "unique" computer for each user. Hope this helps you.

it depends on what you want ot install, Linux or Windows, and if you protected your e-mail by password it doesn't mean anything(everyone required to do the same, so you're not any special)

p.s. another lamma, welcome :)
