in some cases diffrent antivirus systems can conflict, so if ur using freebie ones id reccommend that u do remove norton, make sure u reg-edit and remove all the registry files related to norton, or u'll screw up ur pc, but id get a better firewall than the windows one :D cos the words Chocolate and firegaurd come into mind when considering the windows FW

Yes but also check your registry by going to start - run - type "regedit"- and search for all things norton. Now this can be dangerous if you dont pay attention, the regedit is the place that your computer stores all the pointers to your programs to include windows. So before you delete a thread make sure that it is actually for norton and not something named similiarly to norton.

I had to go to run uninstall to get rid of Norton. Now I have Verizon Yahoo online protection and Zone alarm firewall. So far I haven't had any of the problems that Norton caused for me. Just let it go back to the earlier date then go to the Microsoft site to update it.

Yes it is safe to do so. I would also delete AVG. If you want a free and GOOD antivirus go to http://www.avast.com.
They have THE BEST anti virus program there is.

I believe avg free edition anti virus recommends only using one anti virus program. If you don't uninstall Norton, you could have problems.

Norton actually worms its way inbto windows so much you can't fully remove it without re-installing windows. You can delete most of it but some parts just won't go..

Yes... it is safe... if u want to delete it totally ... Control panel ... Add/remove programs - Norton - Remove/delete.
There won't be any probs if u delete it... just make sure u do it right. Good luck!

I agree that you should delete Norton at the registry by 'regedit'. Check for the subfolders named 'Symantec' in the software sections - there are two folders with subfolders for Norton in them.
