Software - August 2006

If I have AIM on, and decide to close my laptop or leave it on for awhile so it logs me off, every other program is left untouched, except for AIM. Is there any way to make this not happen? It does it to my friends' computers too.

Norton utilities 2006 on windows XP. File system is FAT32. Regarding "Speed Disk".

In the past, perhaps far past, speed disk was able to move folders to the beginning. How do I do this now? The help mentions a "folders tab". It even says that you can move folders, and sub-folders. There is nothing there. What do I have to type in? I can move .dll and .exe files by typing \**\*.exe and so on. Please tell me how to do the folders. I'm desperate.

Not much of a gamer, so don't mind the one drawback of having a mac: the game selection. But now that there is bootcamp for mac, I can install windows on it and play windows games right?? I really want to play age of empires III, I used to be addicted when I was a kid and wanna test it out. Will games run smoothly with bootcamp?

My current 2.0 ghz setup, for example, takes 3 hours to convert a DVD to Divx. Assuming it would take a shorter amount of time, how much time would someone say it would take with a 2.8 ghz computer?

I have a dell computer I purchased from the university of tennessee. I've had it for two years, the hard drive crashed this year and dell sent me one because my computer was under warranty. I had microsoft office but i lost it when the hard drive crashed i downloaded a free trial from microsoft but now it is locked, how could i get in touch with microsoft to see if they could help, I did have an 800 # at one time but lost it.

you know the whole ctrl-alt-delete thing?.. well everytime i try to close a program using that method it says "task manager has been disabled by your administrater".. well im the only one who uses my computerand there is no other users.. i tried to find settings for it but i cant find any!!.. i need help!

The task bar is covering half of the top of the page and at the top where the START button would be is not showing and I can not access it to shut it down or move the taskbar down to the bottom where I want it. It seems to have a mind of it's own and changes position all over the page. HELP. I would like to shut my computer down. Thanks

My mouse finger is getting toooooooo much
exercise clicking on INCREASE TEXT SIZE
every-time I go to a new screen or page.

I need to know of a program that will let me create my own loops and samples to use in acid pro 6. I have used Cakewalk Kinetic and it did the job but was very fiddly and the sound wasn't very good. Obviously I have heard of Reason 3 and all that but I can't afford it, or get a copy to work on my PC. I want to create good sounding samples and drum loops to remix my tunes from my library. Also I have heard of Drum and Bass rig and found it not very good either. Please help!

I don't want to use P2P software because it will harm my computer. I also don't want to pay 99 cents a song either. I have already tried myipodownloads.com, but that is a P2P filesharing system. Yahoo! Music is also very expensive to download songs and put them on an iPod.
